Construction has been part of Terry’s life from the beginning. As a second-generation builder, he grew up on job sites and developed an early understanding of the discipline, work ethic, and standards required to build well. In 2001, he established Terry Johal Developments with a commitment to providing clients with a more personal and highly involved approach to custom home building.
That approach continues to define the company today. We take on a limited number of projects and remain closely engaged throughout each one, helping guide not only the construction itself, but the many decisions that shape the home from the earliest stages through to completion. For our clients, that means greater continuity, clearer accountability, and the confidence that the project is being handled with the attention it deserves.

2025 People’s Choice Award and Multiple CARE Awards
Shelter Cove received major recognition through the CARE Awards, including People’s Choice Award and Best Traditional Kitchen, along with additional honours for Best New Single Family Home over $2,000,000, Best Outdoor Space, Best Bathroom, Best Interior, and Best Custom Millwork. Vancouver Island Building Industry Awards also recognized Casa Del Cielo and Vista Del Mare.
2024 Vista Del Mare Receives Multiple Awards
Vista Del Mare received multiple CARE Awards for Best Single Family Detached Home, Best Custom Millwork, Best Innovative Feature, and Best Primary Suite. Casa Del Cielo was also recognized for Best Contemporary Kitchen, Environmental Achievement, and additional Silver CARE Awards.
2023 People’s Choice Award and Award-Winning Homes
Legato and Oasis received Gold CARE Awards for Best Single Family Detached Home, Best Outdoor Space, and People’s Choice Award, while Prism earned Silver CARE Awards for Best Single Family Spec Home and Best Contemporary Kitchen.
2019 Multiple CARE Awards for Knotting Hill
Knotting Hill received broad recognition for home design, interior, primary suite, kitchen, and custom millwork, reflecting a strong showing across multiple categories.
2018 Award-Winning Homes, Kitchens, and Design
Projects including Harbourside, Pinnacle, Moderno, and Victorian were recognized for condominium design, kitchen design, spec and custom homes, and master suite design.
2017 Executive Achievement Award for Industry Leadership

The Gallery and Windjammer received multiple CARE Awards for custom home building, interior design, kitchen design, media room, and custom millwork. Terry Johal Developments also received the Jerry Hepburn Memorial Award recognizing honesty, integrity, and fairness in the construction industry.
2014 Project of the Year and People’s Choice Award
Windjammer received Project of the Year, People’s Choice Award, and multiple CARE Awards for custom home building, interior design, custom millwork, landscape, kitchen, suite, and outdoor living. Lotus was also recognized for Best Spec Home.
